Choosing the Right Wigs for African Americans
Posted in Wig Accessories | No Comments »So you’re ready to let the world know you have fashion. Getting black hair wigs or any wig may seem embarrassing at first but the truth is many people do it including big name stars and celebrities. If they didn’t it wouldn’t be such a huge industry, plus being able to buy online with anonymity doesn’t hurt either.
So you might be thinking this is new for me and I don’t know what to choose? Well there are a couple things you want to look at before making that purchase. First thing you want to look at is your price range, obviously going the cheap rout may not be the wisest options when considering your image is on the line… have you ever seen a cheap wig? I have and they look absolutely terrible!
Second, do you want real human hair or synthetic hair? The synthetic wig rarely looks really natural so of course the top choice would be human hair even though it costs more but that is also not saying that you can’t find a nice synthetic wig at a reasonable cost but you need to look around. This is not time for the discount section in Wal-Mart
.
One thing to consider when looking at natural hair wigs is that the quality will vary greatly just like… (Drum roll)… real human hair! You will find that the best wigs have soft hair that has gone through a very minimal amount of processing. Imported hair from Asia is the main resource for wigs for African Americans.
To be more exact India and China are the main suppliers. African American hair salons love this hair because it’s heavy, black, quite thick, and can be shaped and styled just like you would treat your own hair by curling and waving, using a hot curling iron and blow dryer. It is not possible to treat synthetic hair with anything hot since heat ruins the synthetic material. This is why the hair is perfect for natural wigs for African Americans.
A good looking wig must fit your head very closely. A well fitted wig means that when people look at you it seems as if the hair is growing right out of your head. If it’s not fitted well the hair is too far out from the face and a dead giveaway. A good hair parting in the wig is essential for African American natural hair styles with straight hair. A low quality wig will have a sewn parting which is very obvious and which is not in the least bit realistic.
One last point on picking the best wigs for African Americans is to make sure you match density with your age. For instance a young person with thinning hair would not look right, right? Well neither would an older person with full thick hair. So don’t overdo it… look as natural as possible.
Back in the olden days wigs for African Americans were boring and simple. However, now a days with technology and innovation finding classy and stylish curly wigs for African Americans to long or short wigs for African Americans is not a problem with tons to choose from ranging in color and texture.
Right now the lace front wig is the most popular with much of Hollywood’s finest sporting them like Beyonce, Vivica Fox, Melyssa Ford and Nia Long. Gone are the days of the African American hair salon sucking hundreds of your dollars. If you can learn to put one on yourself you are literally looking at changing your style with the flip of a switch.
Props to the Diva in you,
